Here is a recipe for monkey bread:
Dough:
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter (room temperature)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
Syrup:
- 3/4 cup butter
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
Place all of the dough ingredients (water, salt, butter, sugar, cinnamon, flour, and yeast) in you bread machine according to manufacturers instructions. Run on the dough cycle. While the dough is in the bread maker, and close to done, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium to low heat. Stir in brown sugar and mix until combined and the brown sugar dissolves.
Once dough is done, remove it from the bread maker and knead a few times (10 to 15 times). Separate dough into 1 to 2 inch round balls and coat in butter/brown sugar mixture. Place into greased bundt pan (staggering the balls in layers) and repeat until you are out of dough. Let the dough sit in the bundt pan, in a warm place on your counter, for approximately 20 minutes to rise. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly in the pan. Turn over bundt pan on a large serving plate to remove bread and serve. Enjoy!
