What a Week!

This has been quite a week.  I have been baking a lot for the holidays....cookies, cakes, pies, candy, etc.  I love this time of year!!!!  Now, I just need to start my Christmas shopping!?!?!!!!  On top of it, I cracked the crown off of my tooth...ouch!  Got o watch out for those hard candies!!!!  My middle son cut his chin pretty darn good and after a trip to urgent care and glue (the new medicine for stitches) to close it up, he is all good and back to being a typical boy.  All in all, a great week and very chaotic at the same time.  Here is to a better next week!

Preparing for Thanksgiving

Well, Thanksgiving Day is almost here!  We all know how hectic it can be, especially if you are hosting dinner.  Between going to the grocery store a few times to make sure we have everything we need and caring for all of the kids (the two older ones are on break this week from school and sick) it has been quite a week already.  It's not even over yet!  Since I had the time today, I spent my morning cleaning the house and prepping for tomorrow.  I portioned out all ingredients for each dish we are making and labeled it.  I also plan on making the pie crusts tonight, maybe even the fillings.  This should save a ton of time tomorrow!  I recommend doing this because you don't want to have to spend more time then you need to in the kitchen.  This will hopefully give me time to spend with the family on Thanksgiving Day.

Turkey school project

So....one of the many projects for school.  This one was a turkey project in which my second grader had to decorate a turkey, creating a disguise, with just a trace of a turkey body to start from.  He disguised his turkey as a farmer and created a story to go with it to turn in.  The story had to be about how the student's turkey would escape from "Farmer Carver Cut You Up".  He chose a farmer as a disguise because the "bad guy" was a farmer too and thought that his turkey would get away because Farmer Carve You Up thought he was one of his neighbors.  With help, we came up with a cute little turkey and spent very, very little money on supplies, which we to from our local craft tore.  We even have lots of stuff we didn't use and we saved them for future projects (which I know will e coming, this year and/or in the many years left of school).  Also, I know the left over stuff can be used on my three other boys and their school projects.

It's Halloween!

Busy day today.....got to run to the grocery store to pick up some stuff, then off to my local discount superstore to get even more stuff.  Pick up the kiddos from school, do some homework with them, get dinner together, then get them all ready to go trick or treating!

Multi-task, multi-task, multi-task!

So, I feel the key to getting anything done is to multi-task!  Some research has shown that multi-tasking is not very efficient and wise.  I think not, or else how would I get half the stuff done that needs to get done everyday.  For example, while working with my kids on their homework, I can also be preparing dinner for the evening.  Help them out here, chop some veggies...sauté....bake....simmer....in the kitchen.  Check their work while also getting the rest of dinner done.  It is also pretty easy to get laundry done, clean around the house, watch the two that are not in school all day, make their lunch (and/or snack), so on and so forth.  Just prioritize and before you know it, a lot will get accomplished and it will just become a daily routine.
