I love stuffed bell peppers. Here is my recipe for stuffed bell peppers that my family and I really enjoy:
- 3 green bell peppers cut in half
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/4 onion
- 2 tablespoon Worcester sauce
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 can tomato sauce
- 3 slices provolone cheese
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
Cut all three bell peppers on half (to make a total of 6 servings) and remove seeds. Place into a large sauce pan (stock pot) of water. Boil water and put in peppers and reduce heat to medium. Let them cook until they are soft and tender...not mushy, about 10 to 15 minutes. Drain water and place peppers on a paper towel and let cool. While bell peppers are cooling, chop the 1/4 onion and place in a pan on the stove (that has about 1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil on it so meat and onion don't stick) along with the ground beef, salt, pepper, and Worcester sauce. Cook the meat and onion and then drain. Once completely drained, mix in the parmesan cheese. Scoop the meat/onion mixture into each bell pepper and place in a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Then, scoop on tomato sauce onto each one. Last cut each pre-sliced provolone cheese piece in half, so there are now 6 slices. Place each one onto the tomato sauce. Lastly, sprinkle bread crumbs onto each one and place into your pre-heated oven at 350 degrees and cook for about 15 to 20 minutes. The cheese should be melted and each stuff bell pepper should be nice and warm when done cooking. Serve warm and enjoy!
