Homemade Butter


Here is the recipe for approximately I cup butter:

-  2 cups heavy cream
-  salt (optional)

Place heavy cream in food processor or blender (I prefer the food processor) and turn on.  Process for approximately 10 minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl a couple of times.  You can easily tell when it's done because the solid (butter) will separate from the liquid.  Scoop out solid and place in strainer and mash (press) down gently with the back of your spoon to remove any remaining liquid.  Place it in an air tight container and store in the refrigerator.  If you would like salted butter, then mix in salt.  Enjoy!

I didn't believe this would actually make butter and taste like real butter, but I was wrong!  It is really good and creamy.  Probably not really any cheaper then buying at the store, but I thought I would try it.  I will probably make it again and it was really fun to make and awesome to know that I could actually make my own butter!
